Monroe County Republicans Announce Retirement of Chairman Ed McLean After a Decade of Service

Monroe County, IL — After ten years of dedicated service to the Monroe County Republican Party, Chairman Ed McLean has announced his retirement.

McLean first assumed the role of Chairman in 2016 and has since worked to represent and advocate for the conservative values of the Republican Party. Throughout his tenure, his primary focus has been strengthening Monroe County and preserving the qualities that make it a thriving community.

“Monroe County is in a strong financial position and continues to benefit from excellent schools, low poverty, low unemployment, and a safe environment to live and raise families,” McLean said. “These successes are the result of intentional leadership and community commitment.”

Recognizing the importance of continuity, McLean made it a priority to recruit and develop the next generation of leadership. With many long-serving officeholders nearing retirement, he focused on identifying young, qualified, and responsible individuals committed to upholding conservative principles and maintaining the county’s high quality of life.

Under McLean’s leadership, the party achieved full representation across all precincts by successfully filling every precinct committeeman position. He also led community-focused initiatives such as diaper drives, supported local events, and played a key role in helping strong candidates run for and win public office.

“Ed’s leadership has left a lasting impact on both the party and the community,” said local party members. “We are grateful for his years of service and dedication.”

McLean is a retired engineer and business leader. He and his wife reside on a small horse farm in rural Monroe County. He remains active in civic and fraternal organizations, including longstanding involvement with the Rotary Club since 1987, as well as membership in the Masonic and Shriner organizations.

The Monroe County Republican Party extends its sincere appreciation to Chairman McLean for his decade of leadership and service.

Keith Kolmer was newly elected as the Monroe County Chairman during their County Convention on Wed. April. 16th. We look forward to his leadership.
